MMK Civil Engineers Ltd has officially been awarded the public realm and infrastructure contract for the upcoming ‘Nobody Lives by the Grid’ public art installation in Oakgrove. Commissioned by Milton Keynes City Council, this contract positions our teams to deliver the foundational civil engineering and premium paving works for one of the city’s most anticipated new cultural landmarks.

Our specialist civil engineering teams are now preparing to mobilise on-site along the Ouzel Valley Park corridor.

Project Scope & Technical Delivery

The contract covers a comprehensive suite of heavy civil engineering and high-specification landscaping packages required to permanently anchor the multi-ton bronze, granite, and marble sculptures. The MMK delivery scope encompasses:

  • Structural Foundation Groundworks: Civil Engineering and casting deep, secure concrete foundations adjacent to the River Ouzel to safely support the heavy sculptural elements.
  • Premium Stone Surfacing: Precision installation of a high-end granite sett paving scheme to form a durable, visually striking public plaza surrounding the artwork.
  • Environmental & Civil Logistics: Managing logistical access through sensitive parklands in partnership with The Parks Trust to ensure zero negative impact on local ecosystems.
  • Public Realm Integration: Seamlessly matching the new structural levels with the existing public footpath network for smooth pedestrian transitions.

A Trusted Public Sector Partner

As a fully accredited Constructionline Gold Member, and Acclaim SSIP contractor, MMK Civil Engineers brings rigorous quality assurance and strict health and safety protocols to this high-profile local authority project.
