Recycled Plastic Bridge Installation – Wootton, Northampton
February 2025
MMK completed a full package of existing bridge removal, groundworks, temporary formwork (shuttering), and concrete works right through to the new bridge installation including making good around the new foundations and bridge deck ends.
The old bridge had been in place for a long time but had become unsafe for users, so we received an enquiry to replace it. Working with our trusted bridge supplier, we worked to provide a competitive quote to replace the bridge, from which we were glad to receive an order for the project.
This type of bridge is a great product for sustainability as the bridge is manufactured using recycled plastic, and the product is a very strong material and much more eco friendly than sourcing raw materials such as wood, which you can see from the photos in this post the previous bridge was constructed from, this process uses circa 66% less energy than new plastic.
This brings a double benefit of making use of an otherwise waste product and provision of a highly durable, maintenance free product that’s surface is naturally slip resistant, not to mention it has a long service life compared to standard construction raw materials.
