Surface/storm water drainage works – new apartment development, Northampton
May 2025
We have recently completed on this deep drainage project in Northampton.
Another job completed within budget, safely and on programme.
We were instructed to install new surface/storm water drainage from a recent development of apartments in Northampton.
Works consisted of locating and connecting to the outfall from the development, excavation and installation of a 150mm diameter clay pipe, gravel bed and surround, circa 50 linear metres to an existing large diameter concrete main which we were required to core drill into and make a “saddle” connection onto.
The existing main was circa 4 metres deep so we had to install necessary shoring equipment for the connection.
We also had to construct two 1350mm diameter manholes along the route, both built to Anglian Waters adoptable standards and specifications, including double access frame and covers and traditional benching.
Works went successfully and our client was very happy with the overall project.
On completion, the project was inspected by Anglian Water with the following results :
- Saddle connection approved
- Manholes inspected and signed off
- Ground topsoiled and seeded
- Clay drainage signed off
